Job Description for Preventive Maintenance Coordinator
Preventive maintenance coordinators are responsible for preventive maintenance related to buildings, machinery, and equipment. They must maintain a log, on paper or computer, of required preventive maintenance and schedule it accordingly, as well as coordinate with maintenance employees regarding projects to be completed. Preventive maintenance coordinators must be able to work well in a team environment and pay close attention to details to ensure that no scheduled service is missing. They must also schedule maintenance staff for jobs relevant to their skills and abilities and follow-up with them, including physically checking relevant equipment, to ensure that the assigned jobs are completed satisfactorily. They must also be able to troubleshoot problems, estimate labor costs for jobs, and supervise maintenance staff. They may also be involved in interviewing maintenance staff before they are hired, and some may be involved in hiring outside contractors for particular jobs.
These coordinators must have exceptional knowledge of the equipment and machinery with which they will work and ensure that all maintenance staff follow safety guidelines in accordance with state and federal regulations. Preventive maintenance coordinators must always maintain a professional demeanor and friendly interactions with clients and staff. When implementing preventive maintenance, they must ensure that they enter history of all jobs that have been completed using relevant computer programs or manual logbooks.
