Banking product managers oversee a group of individuals that create banking products and ensure their success after product launch. They must demonstrate leadership skills by motivating a group of banking specialists to promote banking products to the general public.
Additionally, these managers must help introduce banking products that are appealing to current and new banking clients. They also measure product performance, modify offerings as necessary, as well as research and analyze customer data to determine product requirements and features before introducing them to the public. They take part in business meetings to suggest changes to existing products as well. They generally report to the banking products and services vice president in their organization.
A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field is necessary for this position. Previous experience in a related position is required or preferred as well. Banking product managers should be organized individuals that work in a fast-paced environment; they must be results-driven and able to multitask effectively on a variety of projects. These managers should be proficient with basic computer programs such as the Microsoft Office suite as well.
