The product manager for e-commerce's job is based around customer acquisition and retention. This is done through daily duties such as researching products, developing sales plans, and optimizing vendor relationships. Communications with partners is frequent, as are meetings with supervisors to report status updates. The product manager typically works during regular business hours, although overtime and flexibility may be required at some companies. Minimal travel is usually needed, but teleconferencing and visiting remote locations may be required. There are minimal physical requirements for this position, aside from potentially extended computer usage and sitting. Adhering to a strict schedule and providing regular updates for deliverable items is crucial; this may occur communications with a direct supervisor or direct reports to upper management.
