Research the market by going to job interviews, look at job ads and see if they list salaries for jobs, and ask people who have a job you might like how much they are earning. Once you have an idea, if you are underpaid, ask for the figure, back it up with data, and ask several thousand dollars above that figure, so that you are not offered less than the market rate. If you are lucky, you might get more than the market rate.
