Job Description for Quality Control Manager, Manufacturing

Manufacturing quality control managers are responsible for all aspects of quality assurance in a manufacturing plant. This primarily involves establishing an effective and efficient quality control process. They choose how, where, and how often manufacturing products are tested during the manufacturing process. They must balance between too many tests, which slows manufacturing, and too few tests, which leads to lower quality products. In addition to managing all aspects of product testing, quality control managers are also the primary contact point for regulatory agencies, clients, and management on plant safety and quality issues. They work with independent inspectors as the technical liaison for their plant. Manufacturing quality control managers must maintain current knowledge of standard industry practices and developments in testing measures and specifications.
