Job Description for Real Estate Paralegal

A real estate paralegal reports to an attorney, prepares/reviews real estate documents, and ensures that communication always flows smoothly between lawyers and buyers, sellers, lenders and real estate agents. A real estate paralegal can work for various parties in the real estate field, be they buyers or sellers, but the ability to adhere to deadlines is essential for ensuring that properties are closed on time. Strong teamwork skills are also important, as those in this position often work on a team of lawyers and other paralegals.

Real Estate Paralegal Tasks

  • Assist in drafting client communications, contract provisions and other documents, including deeds, mortgages, lien releases, etc.
  • Conduct legal research on applicable real estate laws.
  • Work with brokers, escrow agents and lenders to expedite buying processes, clear title defects and resolve other legal issues.
  • Prepare and review closing documents and settlement statements.
