Job Description for Rehabilitation Services Director
The work of a rehabilitation services director is to insure that all therapists working under the director are responding to the patients within the home adequately. The director is in charge of keeping up to date on licenses that are required by each individual therapist. This person is required to review reports from each individual patient rehabilitation. The position requires a degree in mental health, psychology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy. A director may be required to provide hands-on services to patients. The rehabilitation services director is the lead on creating and implementing programs with the clients inside the home. The director is the only worker able to deem a patient rehabilitated and clear them from the home.
Directors will normally be at a desk reviewing reports unless an observation of patients is required. A typical work week for a rehabilitation services director will consist of a standard daytime office hours. This position requires frequent walking to follow up on patients' progress and requires meetings with patients in order to determine if the patients are able to be released from the rehab house. Reports to police may need to be filed in accordance with the law.
