Respiratory Therapist Job Description

People with the job title Respiratory Therapist typically fall into one of the following PayScale standard occupations.

Determine requirements for treatment; type, method and duration of therapy based on physicians' orders. Set up and operate mechanical and therapeutic devices following specified parameters of treatment. Monitor patient's physiological responses to therapy; vital signs, arterial blood gases and blood chemistry changes and consult with physician if adverse reactions occur. Maintain patient charts with therapy information. Inspect, clean, and test respiratory therapy equipment.

If you ever want to relocate, RT jobs can be few and far between. There's never a shortage of RN jobs. Don't waste your time and school $ on RT if you ultimately want to be a RN, as schools don't care about your credits, degree, and work experience. They'll make you start all over again.
