Admission sales representatives work closely with prospective students of a particular school in order to convince them to enroll; however, the role of these representatives focuses on both sales and advising. They must be able to provide accurate information while convincing prospective students that their organization is the best choice; they may also serve as impromptu guidance counselors by helping students see how their academic and career goals fit into the goals and operations of the organization.
A bachelor's degree may be a minimum requirement for this position, and some employers may prefer applicants who also have prior sales experience. Some employers may be willing to train candidates. Aspiring admission sales representatives must have strong communication skills and interpersonal skills, and proficiency with Microsoft office and other basic computer software is also important.
