Scan coordinators are responsible for maintaining the overall price integrity within a store or chain of stores, as well as overseeing weekly price changes for goods within the store. This requires examining price-changes for items in the store as well as receiving and pricing items which have yet to arrive.
Scan coordinators regularly update prices in the system so they ring correctly at checkout, as well as update physical labels such as price tags and signs so that customers do not become confused or dissatisfied. They may also assist in the customer service department to resolve any issues a customer may have, especially those related to price-changes or discrepancies. They should also be able to fulfill the duties of a cashier, including working the cash register, scanning items, and answering customers' general questions.
Scan coordinators must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent, and moderate physical ability is also necessary to lift between 35 and 50 pounds. A working knowledge of computers and spreadsheet software is also required in order to update prices as they change. Scanning coordinators typically work during regular business hours, and travel is minimal aside from occasional travel between local branches.
