A social media planner's responsibilities include analyzing the budget and adjusting it in order to meet advertisement goals, reporting the current performance of a campaign to the manager, making sure that media projects meet the deadlines of a long-term goal, making sure that relationships with vendors are of the highest quality and that contracts with them meet certain specifications, assisting managers with campaign planning, executing a campaign from start to finish, and ensuring success.
As a social media planner, one can expect to work 9 to 5, but depending on the company, hours can change. One is usually found working in an office, but travel can be expected in order to meet with current and potential vendors. The following are required in order to apply as a social media planner: computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multitask on different projects, and the capacity to be well-organized and detail-oriented. In order to be considered for this type of job, one must have a bachelor's or master's in a media or communications degree. One must have at least five years of related experience. One must be able to work under a lot of pressure and be able to meet tight deadlines. Excellent presentation skills are a must.
