The director will devise a plan in order to develop the software and create a schedule or timeline so that progress can be reached in a timely manner. The senior project director will be responsible for dividing up tasks and making sure that employees stay on task. It is important to be familiar with all steps in software development in order to be able to adequately monitor progress down the line. There may be a budget to adhere to, so the senior project director should be able to allocate resources in a cost-effective manner.
Often, the senior project manner will have to hold team meetings or give presentations to upper management or clients, so strong public speaking skills will come in handy.
