Q: What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?
Senior Quality Assurance (QA) / Test Automation Engineer in Philadelphia:
Take the time to learn how to code that is relevant to applications I work with.
Senior Quality Assurance (QA) / Test Automation Engineer in Tampa:
Always be current with the latest tools and technologies. Learn at least one programming language and be good at it. Do not be afraid to accept a technically challenged project even if there are lot of unknown variables. In Test Automation, one tool doesn't do the job. You have to be able to do everything associated with the setup; such as, database, reporting, active directory, email, etc.
Dont just be good at what you do but be the best and a subject matter expert. Remember, there are 100s if not 1000s of people can do what you do.
