Senior Web Designer Advice

What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?

Senior Web Designer in Salt Lake City:
"One For The Books, One For The Bacon."
It's tough to determine where to best allocate your energy. If you're like me, you've likely been approached to do some design by every aunt, grandpa, neighbor, friend, colleague, cousin, taxi driver, friend of a friend and college peer you know. It's tough to make a hierarchy of what to work on next. Solution: identify upfront with your client or manager whether this project is intended to produce one for the books (i.e. Awards, portfolio pieces, art, etc.) or produce bacon (i.e. Money, social currency, likes, favorites, pins, upvotes, retweets, forwards, clicks, views, shares, bitcoin, etc.) Also remember to work with your client to identify the different strategies needed to design for bacon and books.
