The role of a software test lead is to effectively lead a test team. In this role, the lead must understand how to effectively implement a testing process while holding a manager's leadership duties. The software test lead must meet supervisors' and colleagues' expectations within the company's time frames for release. During the testing process, the software test lead may create a new customer profile, update existing profiles, and conduct security, backup, and recovery. Responsibilities may be tailored depending on the software test lead's specific organization. However, the testing team is usually involved in design review, function testing, and system testing.
Tests may be conducted before the product is completed and after it is done, both of which can help prevent defective software from reaching the market. Any defects found must be recorded and resolved in a cost-effective and prompt manner.
A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is typically required of the software test lead. They must also have substantial experience in software testing, and management experience typically is preferred.
