Solar Energy System Installer Advice

Q: What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?

Solar Energy System Installer in Brattleboro:
"It's harder on your body than you percieve it to be."
If you want to get into the solar energy field, take classes through a reputable organization that has been around for a while (like Solar Energy International "SEI") and be prepared to always be learning and improving; if you're the kind of person who just wants to take a couple classes and then sit on the couch and watch TV after work, then this is NOT the job for you. Being a solar installer requires constant updates in your knowledge of current products and best practices for installation. Also be aware that being a solar installer is harder on the body than it appears, it's hell on your shoulders, back, knees, and ankles, and working outside in weather extremes (if you live in an area with 4 distinct seasons) is pretty difficult on both your body and your mind. That being said, it's a great field to be in, with plenty of room for advancement, and the best part, you're getting paid to help save the world!
