Spanish interpreters/translators work in various settings to translate the Spanish language into English and vice-versa, often to help two entities (such as businesses or a doctor and patient) communicate. They work in a wide range of locations, from office buildings and large corporations to even foreign countries, and this position requires true fluency in both English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing, for the most accurate translation possible.
Translators must be able to work with a variety of people and represent themselves and a corporation in another language. A bachelor's degree may be required for this position in addition to fluency in Spanish, and some employers may also require a certification in Spanish interpretation. Typical shifts involve translating documents and speech from one language to another and working hours can vary greatly, though most can expect to work during regular business hours. Salaries may be higher in the southwest and large metropolitan areas where languages other than English are more prevalent.
