Student services coordinators must provide high-quality programming for their institution's student body. One of their main responsibilities is creating an effective learning environment. Student services coordinators follow strict organizational policies to ensure privacy and overall satisfaction. As part of their main duties, they also supervise student activities and events. They are in charge of maintaining a database of available scholarship and community opportunities. Student services coordinators also take part in publishing newsletters and other marketing activities. As part of their job, they develop excellent relationships with parents of students to facilitate communication channels. They may also take part in the admission and selection process of new applicants.
They report their progress to the director of the student services department. They work indoors in an office setting during regular business hours. Their main tools include a personal computer and a telephone. They should be proficient with office software and have advanced interpersonal skills; exceptional verbal and written abilities are required for group presentations.
A bachelor's degree is required for this position; previous experience working with students, as well as teaching abilities, are a plus. Student service coordinators should be organized, and pay strong attention to detail.
