It is also important to inspect various machinery, tools, and materials involved in the process to make sure that they are working properly. It is also important to monitor the work of individuals to make sure that the work being done is of quality. When it is not, an SMT engineer may give the employees feedback. Some positions will require an SMT process engineer to be responsible for the output amount and quality of a workgroup. It may also be necessary to make suggestions to upper management as to processes that should be improved on the assembly line. In some positions, a SMT process engineer may be expected to come up with or improve SMT designs to fit a certain need. It is essential to consider the cost effectiveness of certain processes and materials so that company profitability is improved.
