Job Description for Telecommunications Line Installer / Repairer

A telecommunications line installer and repairer installs telecommunications lines for internet and phone services and ensures that they work optimally. When issues are detected or reported by the customers, the line installer will inspect the lines to remedy the issues. Some things that are installed are fiberoptic wiring, drop wires, network grid devices, multiline systems, private branch exchanges, and protectors for the lines. When new customers order services, the installer will create new lines and make sure that customers can receive the service. When problems are reported, a line installer will have to troubleshoot the issues in order to determine the problem. After installation is complete, repair work is done to repair the lines or equipment as needed.
