Tool makers may perform a variety of duties depending on their position and employer. Some tool maker positions involve only stamping out tools with machine, while others include working with design software and 3D modeling to come up with solutions to solve technical problems (such as components for aircraft and other vehicles). The ability to read blueprints and create tools is essential for this job. Some positions require working on a team to provide input for new products that will improve the company or field operations.
