Job Description for Top Human Resources Officer

Top human resources officers are responsible primarily for providing resources and assisting employees of the company they work for with work-related matters not specific to the job. This may involve reviewing the health benefits available to employees, helping them with personal paperwork, or finding counseling for employees when needed. Top human resources officers also assist their employer in hiring other employees. The top human resources manager functions as the lead in providing all of these services.
The top human resources officer is the person whom employees goes to when they need information or to have something resolved that is outside of what their own manager handles. Top human resources officers must be well organized, as they manage the paperwork and resources for all employees in every department of a business. They are the helping hand an employee goes to for any kind of issue they may have that does not pertain directly to their work. Running training programs for all employees is one of their functions. Top human resources officers must be knowledgeable about a wide range of topics. For example, a young employee may be interested in setting up a 401(k) but have no experience with it. The employee could go to the top human resources officer for assistance. Top human resources officers work in just about every industry there is. They work in a human resources office within all of these different industries. The tools used for work are typical office supplies, a telephone, computer, and pens and paper. Top human resources officers usually report to the general manager, as they are the head of their own department. Directing a team of human resources officers is also a primary responsibility.
A Bachelor's degree in business administration is a requirement but many positions require a Master's of Business Administration. Many Top Human Resources Officers must also take ongoing training courses throughout their career. Several years of experience in human resources and the ability to lead are also necessary requirements.
Top Human Resources Officers fill an essential role in handling the concerns of employees with areas outside of their actual job, but often work-related. They must be able to lead a team of individuals while also being able to assist everybody else in their organization. They must be well-organized but also knowledgeable and understanding.

  • Oversee initiatives and operations in the managed departments; planning, budgeting and measurement of results.
  • Provide overall strategic HR leadership to the company.
