UX Researcher Reviews

What is it like working as an UX Researcher?

UX Researcher in Austin:
"You pave your way as a UX Researcher."
Pros: Strategic impact on the product, understanding/advocating for user needs.
Cons: The field is up and coming, so I and most of my colleague user researchers were the first on our teams. More established in design agencies and companies like Google, Apple. Rest are catching up. Which means though our org understands they need to hire us to have a successful design org, they don't understand what the job entails. We don't get the resources considered standard in the practice. We also are less respected by execs, product managers who don't understand user research because they think it's as easy as just talking to customers.
