One of the main jobs of the video services manager is to ensure that hardware is in good working condition and appropriate for the jobs it will be used for. As a manager, he or she facilitates repairs and works within a budget to acquire new gear and tech as necessary. The video services manager ensures that an employee in the department is on hand for setup, any necessary demonstrations, or other required tech support. The video services department may be required to supply cameras or equipment operators, and the manager ensures that technicians are available and onhand for these operations as well.
Most video services managers will have some post-secondary schooling from a university or community college in communications or video production. Companies typically also will seek out candidates for this position who possess extensive practical experience as video technicians and operators. A video services manager typically works in an office, but regular field is also expected, as travel may be required of this position.
