Window/door installers typically travel to and from various locations in a company vehicle to speak with clients about projects, inspect the area, measure the proper height and length, and install windows and doors in properly-fitted holes. This position requires a great deal of strength, as well as the ability to make accurate measurements for windows and doors, and their work areas include both homes and businesses.
These installers may use a variety of tools, ranging from hammers and nails to drills and saws. Most installers work independently or with a small crew of five workers or less, and a high school diploma and prior training in installation settings are generally required for this position while a college degree is not necessarily required. Many aspiring window/door installers go to trade schools and obtain certifications, and this work has a job expectancy growth of about 5%.
