A youth minister usually works with preteens and teenagers in a church or other religious environment, in order to deepen their spiritual development. Working with youth involves a great deal of creativity, in order to grab the attention of young people. It may be necessary to plan lessons and create goals for the youth. The youth minister will often lead other employees and volunteers, so management and leadership skills of adults are also important. It may be the job of the youth minister to create sermons and lesson plans for youth activities, Bible studies, Sunday school classes, after-school programs, and services.
