watch who you associate with!
Contract Administrator - (City withheld for privacy), California, United States
I was fired because I was friendly with a person that was very negative and pursued a lawsuit against the company I worked with. I was pretty popular until this person left the company and threathened the law suit. Shortly, thereafter, (within 30 days) my performance was severly criticized and I was let go??

How could my standing in the firm have changed so suddenly??

contracting raise
Senior Systems Analyst - (City withheld for privacy), New Jersey, United States
I have worked for three different agencies. The first two I worked for I simply asked for a raise after the end of the first year stating I had been there for a year, the company I was working for was happy with my work. In both cases the bill rate had not changed but the agency took a smaller percentage and gave a raise out of profit margin. This only happened on the first year. I am currently persuing a raise on the same basis with the agency I am currently working with.

life is not always fair
Administrative Assistant - (City withheld for privacy), Texas, United States
I was dismissed for reasons i can't discuss in detail due to my own ethical beliefs. however, the other people involved would gladly lay the blame at my own desk. i wrote a letter according to company policy, it was reviewed by a colleague and signed by my supervisor. this letter resulted in my being dismissed. i was working for a nonprofit and the letter involved a donation.

Relocating to a new state
Mental Health Counselor - (City withheld for privacy), Virginia, United States
I really do not have advice on this topic but I am seeking advice. I have worked in the mental health field in CA. for over thirteen years. I am orginally from WI. I relocated to CA. 15yrs. ago. I find myself at a lost because I am so burnt out on the economical strain of living in CA. You would think that CA. is the leading state in decent pay rates for mental health/social services but in fact, the job market is lagging and it doesn't appear that obtaining a Master's in Psychology has much effect on earning potiential. I am a single woman, my children are all grown and I really want to move on and have the life-style Iv worked so hard for. However, I have not reached my goal of earning possibilities. The pay is good if you work for the department of corrections but that is not what I prefer to do. I would appreciate any advice you have to offer.

Go to school
Sr. Software Engineer / Developer / Programmer - (City withheld for privacy), Florida, United States
I feel that in order to recieve a pay increase your company must see a return on investment. Organizations are not going to give you something without something in return. The best way to show your organization that you are worth the promotion is to increase your education. Go get a Masters degree.
