ASU alumni find work in an assortment of industries including IT services, public K-12 education, and the mental health office industry. The health care industry registers as the most common industry among alumni. Curiously, the high SAT results reported by ASU alumni do not result in top-paid positions in the workforce — in fact, this group brings home rather low salaries. Graduates of ASU typically earn approximately $44K.


Account Managers win the contest for best-paid ASU alumni, typically making about $46K every year.


ASU alumni do not feel the need to relocate after graduation, and just under one in five grads find stable employment in Montgomery. With a median salary of around $105K, Phoenix represents the highest-paid city popular among ASU grads. On the other end, ASU grads flock to Birmingham, which actually offers the weakest median salaries of $27K. Other cities of interest include Atlanta and Houston.

Degree Major

A graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from ASU can rake in a whopping $64K per year, more than any other degree from this school. Those with a B.A. in Communication face salaries on the lower end, coming in close to $38K per year.


A little less than a fifth of grads report using Customer Service as part of their job, making it the most popular skill. Former Hornets with Budget Management experience garner salaries that are 84 percent more than other grads' salaries. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word command top-of-the-line rewards as well.

Benefits and Perks

Only half of the alumni earn paid vacation and just one-fourth of alumni get paid sick time. Health insurance benefits extend to most grads, and a majority of alumni sign up for dental plans. Most alums set aside retirement funds in an employer-sponsored 401(k). Other benefits that Alabama State University alumni receive are life insurance, a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
