Former Armstrong students are professionally suited for a wide range of fields including the health care services industry, clinical care, and the radiology industry. A large chunk of former Armstrong students are employed in the health care industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. On the other end of the spectrum is the home health care with hospice services industry, which attracts less than five percent of Armstrong alumni. Starting salaries of approximately $53K are the median among Armstrong grads.


There is a sizable difference between men's post-college salaries and women's: the median for the former is about $72K, but the median for the latter is only $45K.


The most lucrative professionals among Armstrong alumni are Adult Nurse Practitioners; they earn a median annual salary of around $99K. Also approaching the top of the pay scale at $73K and $68K, respectively, are Software Developers and Applications Programmers. Registered Nurses get the short end of the stick when it comes to salary; grads report making an average of $44K in this job.


Many Armstrong alumni remain in Savannah after graduation; close to one-half of grads find permanent positions in the workforce here. Another city that attracts a wealth of Armstrong grads is Atlanta, Ga.; given its high compensation (approximately $75K is the average salary), the city's popularity should come as no surprise. Though Statesboro, Ga. takes the cake for lowest pay among Armstrong grads (the median salary is $40K there), it remains a common destination for former students. Alumni express interest in Jacksonville, Fla. and Tampa, Fla. as well.

Degree Major

A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Adult Nurse Practitioner Studies will compensate Armstrong grads at a much higher rate than other degrees — these alums rake in $99K on average per year. Those with a Bachelor's Degree face salaries on the lower end, coming in at an average $58K per year.


Former Pirates with Java experience garner salaries that are 35 percent more than other grads' salaries. Armstrong alumni are often well versed in Customer Service, with nearly one in ten grads ending up in jobs that require this skillset. Other prime know-hows include C#, Microsoft Excel, and Acute Care.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about two-fifths of alumni) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one in four survey participants get sick time. A fair number of alumni receive health insurance, and more than half of graduates get dental coverage. To plan for old age, a fair number of survey participants maintain savings accounts through a company's 401(k) plan. Armstrong Atlantic State University graduates also take advantage of life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.
