The financial services industry, the food service industry, and the public accounting industry are just a few of the areas in which BSC grads find work. A large chunk of former BSC students are employed in the banking industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. The average salary for a grad from BSC is $54K.

Locations

Upon earning their degrees, many BSC grads prefer to remain in Birmingham; in fact, close to one-half of grads appreciate the area so much that they find permanent jobs there. With a median salary of $115K, Huntsville, Ala. represents the highest-paid city popular among BSC grads. On the other end, BSC grads flock to Nashville, Tenn., which actually offers the weakest median salary of around $48K. Other cities of interest include Atlanta, Ga. and Montgomery, Ala.

Degree Major

Among the highest-paid BSC alumni are those with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting — they earn close to $84K on average per year. On the other end of the spectrum, those with a Bachelor of Science in Economics tend to do the worst in terms of salary, making an average about $38K per year.

Skills

Birmingham Southern College grads with Strategic Planning abilities can expect to make more than double their former classmates (approximately $115K). Customer Service is a popular skill among BSC alumni, with nearly one in seven workers reporting using it on the job. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Project Management are desirable skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

When it comes to paid time off, there is more lenience involving vacation than illness; more than half of survey participants get vacation time, whereas just two-fifths of alumni get paid sick leave. Benefits are rather generous for graduates of this school; a strong majority of graduates are rewarded with health insurance and a majority of the survey participants report dental coverage, too. A fair number of respondents allocate some part of their earnings to a company-sponsored 401(k) savings plan. Other benefits that Birmingham Southern College alumni receive are tuition reimbursement, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and a casual working environment.
