Graduates of BSC work in a variety of industries including the financial services industry, the public accounting industry, and the software development industry. The most popular field is the banking industry. The least popular industry for BSC graduates is the food service industry — less than five percent of this demographic are employed in this field. Following graduation, BSC students earn an average of $52K.


Male graduates of BSC out-earn their female counterparts significantly, earning an average of about $59K versus around $48K for women.

A Bachelor of Science in Accounting leads to the highest pay for BSC grads ($84K per year). On the other end of the spectrum, those with a Bachelor of Science in Economics tend to do the worst in terms of salary, making about $38K per year.


Microsoft Office is a popular skill among BSC alumni, with just under one in five workers reporting using it on the job. Knowledge of Employee Relations seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are 71 percent more than their former classmates' salaries ($88K). Other top skills include Microsoft Excel, Customer Service, and Project Management.

Benefits and Perks

Although a majority of the survey participants are compensated for vacation days, only two-fifths of alumni are paid for sick time. A majority of graduates save for retirement through a 401(k) plan. Benefits are rather generous for graduates of this school; a majority of grads are rewarded with health insurance and a majority of alums report dental coverage, too. Birmingham Southern College grads are also lucky enough to receive life insurance, tuition reimbursement, a company-subsidized cell phone, and free drinks.
