Boise State alumni can most commonly be found in the manufacturing industry, the retail industry, and the marketing, advertising, and media management industry, though they are employed throughout a wide range of sectors. The health care industry registers as the most common industry among alumni. Those with an education from Boise State earn an average of about $52K.


A gender wage gap becomes apparent after college, with female graduates earning only $50K on average compared to $62K for male graduates.


The biggest paychecks among Boise State alumni are earned by Instructional Designers — these former students make approximately $75K per year. The next biggest paychecks go to Construction Project Managers ($73K) and Electrical Engineers (around $70K). Data Analysts get the short end of the stick when it comes to salary, where grads report making an average of $35K in this job.


Boise is a popular place for Boise State students to settle after graduation, and about one-half of grads find steadfast employment in the city. Another city that attracts a wealth of Boise State grads is Portland; given its high compensation ($66K is the average salary), the city's popularity should come as no surprise. On the flipside, the lowest-paying city popular among Boise State grads is Meridian (median compensation is $50K). Seattle and Nampa are also desirable cities.


Former Boise State students head to Micron Technology, Inc. for above-average paychecks of around $66K. In contrast, alums who work at St. Luke's Health System face the lowest salaries at $63K on average.

Degree Major

Former Broncos who fare the best in terms of salary hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (EE) and earn $84K per year. A B.A. in Business & Marketing is less advantageous in terms of earnings; alums with this degree are the lowest earners with annual pay of about $33K.


Leadership commands a pay premium of 62 percent for former Broncos. Boise State alumni are often well versed in Microsoft Excel, with nearly one in seven grads ending up in jobs that require this skillset. Proficiency in Project Management, Microsoft Office, and Customer Service command top-of-the-line rewards as well.

Benefits and Perks

Though vacation and sick days are paid for some, these benefits are reported by the minority of graduates (two-fifths of alumni and one-fifth of alumni, respectively). A strong majority of survey participants set aside retirement funds in an employer-sponsored 401(k). It is no small feat that the greater part of alums are given health coverage, and a majority of alums accept dental insurance. Additional perks enjoyed by Boise State University grads include a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
