Boise State alumni belong to a wide range of sectors. A few fields in which grads tend to find work include the manufacturing industry, the marketing, advertising, and media management industry, and the retail industry. A large chunk of former Boise State students are employed in the health care industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Those with a degree from Boise State tend to make around $52K.


It's worth noting that female graduates earn a median salary of about $50K whereas the men's median is $62K.


Among Boise State graduates, the biggest earners are Instructional Designers, who haul in approximately $75K on average. Next on the list are Electrical Engineers and Software Engineers, bringing in $70K each. On the lower end, Data Analysts report making $35K.


Boise is a city beloved by Boise State alumni, and close to one-half of grads actually choose to stay and find employment here after completing their coursework. It is no surprise that Portland, which hands out the biggest paychecks (the average salary is $66K), is another of the most popular spots for former Boise State students. Though Twin Falls takes the cake for lowest pay among Boise State grads (the median salary is $50K there), it remains a common destination for former students. In addition, grads flock to Seattle as well as Meridian.


The highest paychecks can be found at Micron Technology, Inc., where some Boise State grads go to work for pay averaging $66K. By comparison, earnings are fairly low at St. Luke's Health System, where the median salary is $63K.

Degree Major

Among the highest-paid Boise State alumni are those with a Some college coursework with no degree — they earn close to $83K per year. Ranking last in the compensation department are those holding a B.A. in Business & Marketing — their annual income amounts to about $33K on average.


Project Management commands a pay premium of 47 percent for former Broncos. Microsoft Excel is a common skill among Boise State alumni — nearly one in seven grads mention using it at work. Experience with Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Customer Service is highly valued as well.

Benefits and Perks

Only about two-fifths of alumni enjoy paid vacation and one in four survey participants receive sick leave. A strong majority of graduates have medical plans, and a majority of grads have dental insurance. To plan for old age, a solid majority of survey participants maintain savings accounts through a company's 401(k) plan. Alumni of Boise State University also take in a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
