Graduates of Boise State go into the manufacturing industry, the health care services industry, and the marketing, advertising, and media management industry, not to mention a variety of other lines of work. A large chunk of former Boise State students are employed in the health care industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Following graduation, Boise State students earn an average of $53K.


A gender wage gap becomes apparent after college, with female graduates earning only $49K on average compared to $61K for male graduates.


Former Boise State students with an interest in making money consider becoming Instructional Designers, the highest-paying gig (average earnings amount to around $75K) among this alumni group. Other well-paid jobs include Electrical Engineers (about $69K) and Software Developers (approximately $63K). Sliding in near the bottom are Data Analysts, who report earnings of $42K.


Boise State students enjoy their time in Boise, and close to one-half of students actually choose to live and work there after graduating. Seattle, Wash. is another hot spot for Boise State grads, where salaries rank at the top of the pay scale (compensation averages out to about $79K). Though Nampa, Idaho takes the cake for lowest pay among Boise State grads (the median salary is $51K there), it remains a common destination for former students. Other popular cities include Portland, Ore. and Meridian, Idaho.

Degree Major

With a median annual earnings of $83K per year, former Broncos who have a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Computer Information Systems (CIS) are the best paid among the alumni population. The degree that warrants the lowest level of financial compensation is a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Business Economics ($28K on average annually).


Leadership commands a pay premium of 66 percent for former Broncos. Project Management is a common skill among Boise State alumni — nearly one in eight grads mention using it at work. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Data Analysis are desirable skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Though vacation and sick days are paid for some, these benefits are reported by the minority of graduates (two-fifths of alumni and one in five survey participants, respectively). For this school, most respondents are the recipients of health benefits, and more than half of survey participants pick up dental plans, too. Most alums save up for retirement through a 401(k) plan. Boise State University grads also enjoy benefits like a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
