BGSU alumni can most commonly be found in the manufacturing industry, the banking industry, and the software development industry, though they are employed throughout a wide range of sectors. The most popular career sector among alumni is the education industry. Following graduation, BGSU students earn an average of approximately $53K.


After graduation, disparities in salary rise to the surface — males tend to earn $62K per year compared to females' $50K.


BGSU grads who become Chief Financial Officers garner financial rewards beyond any other job type for this group — these alumni rake in $115K annually. However, Software Engineers and Purchasing Managers also rank as top-earners (bringing in $82K and around $73K, respectively). Sliding in near the bottom are Accountants, who report earnings of about $48K.


Cleveland is a hot spot for BGSU alum. With a median salary of $82K, New York represents the highest-paid city popular among BGSU grads. Dayton is a popular spot for former BGSU students at the opposite end of the pay scale; in fact, average salaries there are the lowest at about $42K. BGSU alumni express interest in nearby Toledo and Columbus as well.

Degree Major

A Master of Business Administration (MBA) leads to the highest pay for BGSU grads ($89K per year). The degree that warrants the lowest level of financial compensation is a Bachelor of Science in Education (around $39K annually).


Project Management is a popular skill among BGSU alumni, with around an eighth of grads reporting using it on the job. Knowledge of Operations Management seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are 32 percent more than their former classmates' salaries (approximately $70K). Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Customer Service are desirable skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

When it comes to benefits, there is room for improvement — only half of the alumni are paid for vacation and just one-third of alumni for sick time. A solid majority of grads plan for retirement by taking advantage of a company-sponsored 401(k) program. A solid majority of alumni enjoy benefits like health insurance, while a fair portion of alumni receive dental plans, too. Bowling Green State University grads are also lucky enough to receive life insurance, a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
