The software development industry, the education industry, and the retail industry are just a few of the areas in which Chico State grads find work. The most popular career sector among alumni is the construction industry. Those with an education from Chico State earn an average of about $61K.


There is a sizable difference between men's post-college salaries and women's: the median for the former is around $73K, but the median for the latter is only $58K.

Close-by San Francisco, Calif. and San Diego, Calif. are also desirable cities among Chico State alumni.

Degree Major

A Bachelor of Science in Accounting & Business will compensate Chico State grads at a much higher rate than other degrees — these alums rake in about $135K on average per year. A Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Business Management is less advantageous in terms of earnings; alums with this degree are the lowest earners with a median annual pay of around $39K.


Project Management is a popular skill among Chico State alumni, with nearly one-sixth of grads reporting using it on the job. Former Wildcats with Financial Analysis abilities can expect to make 50 percent more than their former classmates ($91K). Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Customer Service rank among leading skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Only about two-fifths of alumni enjoy paid vacation and one in four survey participants receive sick leave. Health insurance benefits extend to most former students, and a fair number of respondents sign up for dental plans. A large number of alumni allocate some part of their earnings to a company-sponsored 401(k) savings plan. Alumni of California State University also take in a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, life insurance, and flexible hours.
