Graduates of CSUF head into a range of vocations when it comes to work; the manufacturing industry, the aerospace and defense industry, and the banking industry are just a few professional areas popular among alumni. A large chunk of former CSUF students are employed in the health care industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Following graduation, CSUF students earn an average of approximately $55K.

CSUF grads who become Regional Sales Managers garner financial rewards beyond any other job type for this group — these alumni rake in an average $98K annually. However, Accounting Managers and Marketing Directors also rank as top-earners (bringing in $79K and around $63K, respectively). Sliding in near the bottom are Operations Managers, who report earnings of $46K.

Many CSUF grads end up living in Irvine, Calif., deeming it the most popular city for former students of this school. It is no surprise that Los Angeles, Calif., which hands out the biggest paychecks (the average salary is $73K), is another of the most popular spots for former CSUF students. Relative to other popular cities, Fullerton ranks low on the pay scale (average pay is about $52K); however, California State University grads enjoy the area so much that they often choose to reside here after graduation despite the drawback in salary. Graduates of CSUF also relocate to Orange, Calif., which is not far away, and Anaheim, Calif.

Degree Major

A graduate with a Master of Science (MS), Computer Science (CS) from CSUF can rake in a whopping average $102K per year, more than any other degree from this school. Graduates holding a B.A. in Public Relations & Communication fare the worst in terms of compensation with an average yearly salary of $43K.

CSUF grads are usually competent in Microsoft Office, and about a sixth of alumni continue practicing this skill in their career. Competency in Microsoft Word translates into above-average pay for former Titans — they earn 38 percent more than their fellow graduates. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project Management, and Customer Service command top-of-the-line rewards as well.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about two-fifths of alumni) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one in three grads get sick time. A fair number of survey participants plan for retirement by taking advantage of a company-sponsored 401(k) program. Health benefits extend to a fair number of grads, and a majority of alums also receive dental coverage. Additional perks enjoyed by California State University grads include a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.

Related Schools

Compensation averages $58K for California State University alumni, making their earnings most comparable to CSUF grads. California State University-Long Beach, California State University-Dominguez Hills, and California State Polytechnic University-Pomona are also similar to CSUF.
