A large chunk of former CWU students are employed in public K-12 education; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Unfortunately, former CWU students — a population with excellent SAT results — report salaries on the lower end of the pay scale. Those with a degree from CWU make an average of around $48K.


A large number of students head to Ellensburg, Wash. after college. Seattle, Wash. is also a common destination for CWU grads and offers the best pay with a median salary of $61K. Kent, Wash. is a popular spot for former CWU students at the opposite end of the pay scale; in fact, average salaries there are the lowest at about $56K.

Degree Major

A Bachelor's Degree, Accounting will compensate CWU grads at a much higher rate than other degrees — these alums rake in $92K on average per year. A Bachelor of Science in Accounting offers the lowest median annual financial reward ($47K).


Former Wildcats with Budget Management abilities can expect to make 63 percent more than their former classmates (approximately $78K). Many CWU grads have knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with close to a sixth of alumni using this program on the clock. Experience with Microsoft Office, Accounting, and Microsoft Word is highly valued as well.

Benefits and Perks

More than half of respondents earn paid vacation and paid sick time. A strong majority of survey participants have medical plans, and a fair number of grads have dental insurance. A fair number of former students set up a 401(k) to save for retirement. Central Washington University grads also enjoy benefits like a casual working environment, life insurance, flexible hours, and stock purchase plan.
