Graduates of CWU head into a range of vocations when it comes to work; the construction industry, the banking industry, and the education industry are just a few professional areas popular among alumni. The most popular professional field seems to be the manufacturing industry. CWU graduates see an average starting salary of approximately $51K.


CWU grads who become Cost Accountants garner financial rewards beyond any other job type for this group — these alumni rake in an average $64K annually. However, Account Managers and Executive Assistants also rank as top-earners (bringing in $62K and about $58K, respectively). Elementary School Teachers face rather mediocre compensation — average salaries are actually the lowest at $34K.


Seattle, Wash. is a hub for CWU graduates — a large number call this city home. Redmond, Wash. is also a common destination for CWU grads and offers the best pay with a median salary of around $60K. The city with the lowest median paycheck frequented by CWU alumni is Kent, Wash., where earnings average $44K. Neighboring Bellevue, Wash. is another common pick among CWU grads, along with Yakima, Wash.

Degree Major

With a median annual earnings of $125K per year, former Wildcats who have a Bachelor of Science in Economics are the best paid among the alumni population. An Associate's Degree is less advantageous in terms of earnings; alums with this degree are the lowest earners with a median annual pay of $31K.


Former Wildcats with Account Management experience garner salaries that are 67 percent more than other grads' salaries. Microsoft Excel is a common skill among CWU alumni — one in seven grads mention using it at work. Also considered top-notch skills are Project Management, Microsoft Office, and Customer Service.

Benefits and Perks

When it comes to benefits, there is room for improvement — only one-third of alumni are paid for vacation and just one-third of alumni for sick time. In an effort to save up for the years ahead, a strong majority of former students contribute to a 401(k). A strong majority of respondents have medical plans, and a strong majority of survey participants have dental insurance. Other benefits awarded to Central Washington University alumni include a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and flexible hours.
