ECU grads who become Manufacturing Engineers garner financial rewards beyond any other job type for this group — these alumni rake in an average about $63K annually. However, Construction Project Managers and Software Engineers also rank as top-earners (bringing in $61K and $60K, respectively). Sliding in near the bottom are Interior Designers, who report earnings of approximately $35K.


Home to a large number of ECU alums, Raleigh, N.C. is by far the most attractive city for these former students. ECU grads also flock to Durham, N.C., which is home to salaries significantly above average (median pay is around $60K). On the flipside, the lowest-paying city popular among ECU grads is Wilmington, N.C. (median compensation is $39K). Nearby Greenville, N.C. and Charlotte, N.C. also rank high on the list of cities for ECU grads.

Degree Major

A Master of Science (MS), Medical Physics earns ECU students the most money after college (an average around $148K per year). Those with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration face salaries on the lower end, coming in at an average approximately $32K per year.


Project Management is a popular skill among ECU alumni, with one in seven workers reporting using it on the job. Former Pirates with Project Management abilities can expect to make 26 percent more than their former classmates ($65K). Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Customer Service command top-of-the-line rewards as well.

Benefits and Perks

Only about two-fifths of alumni enjoy paid vacation and one in three grads receive sick leave. To plan for old age, a strong majority of respondents maintain savings accounts through a company's 401(k) plan. Dental insurance applies to the larger part of graduates, and a fair number of respondents report health coverage. Alumni of East Carolina University also take in life insurance, tuition reimbursement, a company-subsidized cell phone, and a casual working environment.
