Industry

The banking industry, the health care industry, and the manufacturing industry are just a few of the areas in which ESU grads find work. A large chunk of former ESU students are employed in the education industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Curiously, the high SAT results reported by ESU alumni do not result in top-paid positions in the workforce — in fact, this group brings home rather low salaries. Former ESU graduates tend to bring in about $48K.

Gender

In the ESU alumni community, men make a median salary of approximately $66K compared to their female counterparts, who earn $45K.

Jobs

Among ESU graduates, the biggest earners are Chief Financial Officers, who haul in $200K on average. Next on the list are Software Engineers and Accountants, bringing in $83K and $56K, respectively. Product Marketing Specialists get the short end of the stick when it comes to salary, where grads report making an average of around $35K in this job.

Locations

More often than not, ESU grads continue living in Emporia (around a seventh of former students to be exact) even though average salaries here take last place on the pay scale ($35K). On the opposite end of the pay scale is Houston, a top-paying city for ESU grads looking to earn a larger-than-average sum (this city has a median pay of $85K). Other cities of interest among ESU alumni include nearby Wichita and Overland Park.

Degree Major

With annual earnings of about $100K per year, former Hornets who have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics are the best paid among the alumni population. On the other end of the spectrum, those with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology tend to do the worst in terms of salary, making approximately $27K per year.

Skills

Competency in Project Management translates into above-average pay for former Hornets — they earn 73 percent more than their fellow graduates. Microsoft Office is a popular skill among ESU alumni, with nearly one-sixth of grads reporting using it on the job. Microsoft Excel, Customer Service, and Project Management are among other dominant skills.

Benefits and Perks

Just half of the alumni enjoy paid vacation and merely one in three grads get paid sick time. Health coverage is awarded to a solid majority of survey participants, and dental insurance is issued to a majority of the survey participants as well. A strong majority of alums save up for retirement through a 401(k) plan. Emporia State University alumni are also on the receiving end of life insurance, a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.

Related Schools

Missouri State University graduates, who earn around $49K on average, make a similar amount to ESU grads. The University of Central Missouri, Pittsburg State University, and Fort Hays State University are also similar to ESU.
