Graduates of Florida Atlantic head into a range of vocations when it comes to work; the software development industry, the engineering services industry, and clinical care are just a few professional areas popular among alumni. The most popular professional field seems to be the health care industry. Graduates of Florida Atlantic typically earn $54K.


Male graduates do tend to earn more than female graduates; the first group banks around $63K per year, but the second group takes home only $51K.


Florida Atlantic grads who become Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners are compensated well above average — these folks are top-earners among their graduating class, usually making $88K yearly. Also notably well-paid are Financial Controllers and Mechanical Engineers; their salaries approach $75K and approximately $63K, respectively. Accountants pick up about $45K in financial rewards, representing the lowest-paid position among alumni.


Florida Atlantic alumni love Boca Raton so much that they tend to stick around after graduation, with close to a sixth of grads staying on to find permanent employment. It is no surprise that Atlanta, which hands out the biggest paychecks (the average salary is $73K), is another of the most popular spots for former Florida Atlantic students. On the other end, Florida Atlantic grads flock to Fort Lauderdale, which actually offers the weakest median salaries of $51K. Other common destinations for Florida Atlantic grads include close-by West Palm Beach and Miami.

Degree Major

A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (CS) will compensate Florida Atlantic grads at a much higher rate than other fields — these alums tend to rake in $82K per year. Ranking last in the compensation department are those holding a B.A. in Psychology — their annual income amounts to approximately $39K on average.


Engineering Design commands a pay premium of 28 percent for former Owls. Microsoft Excel is a common skill among Florida Atlantic alumni — roughly a seventh of grads mention using it at work. Experience with Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Financial Analysis is highly valued as well.

Benefits and Perks

When it comes to benefits, there is room for improvement — only two-fifths of alumni are paid for vacation and just one in three grads for sick time. A fair portion of graduates have medical plans, and a majority of the survey participants have dental insurance. Most alumni take advantage of a 401(k) plan. Additional benefits handed to Florida Atlantic University alumni include life insurance, a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
