Graduates of HPU are found working in a number of different fields including the manufacturing industry, the telecommunications industry, and the banking industry. The software development industry is the sector most highly represented among alumni. The average starting salary for a graduate of HPU is about $55K.


It's worth noting that female graduates earn a median salary of $50K whereas the men's median is $62K.


The biggest paychecks among HPU alumni are earned by Information Technology Managers — these former students make a median salary of $100K per year. The next biggest paychecks go to Commodity Managers (around $80K) and Senior Marketing Managers ($76K). Sitting at the bottom of the pay scale are Administrative Coordinators who make an average of approximately $38K.


Many HPU students are Greensboro, N.C.-bound following college. The top-paying city popular with HPU alumni is Winston-Salem, N.C., which offers a median salary of $65K. Though Boston, Mass. takes the cake for lowest pay among HPU grads (the median salary is $31K there), it remains a common destination for former students. Neighboring High Point, N.C. is another common pick among HPU grads, along with Raleigh, N.C.

Degree Major

HPU students with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (CS) can expect to make the most money (about $106K on average per year) compared to their fellow graduates. Graduates holding a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management fare the worst in terms of compensation with an average yearly salary of approximately $35K.


Procurement commands a pay premium of 46 percent for former Panthers. Microsoft Office is a popular skill among HPU alumni, with a little less than one-fifth of grads reporting using it on the job. Competency in Project Management, Microsoft Word, and Customer Service also warrants excellent remuneration.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about two-fifths of alumni) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one in four survey participants get sick time. A strong majority of respondents plan for retirement by taking advantage of a company-sponsored 401(k) program. Health coverage is awarded to a fair number of former students, and dental insurance is issued to the larger part of alums as well. High Point University alumni are rewarded with additional benefits, such as life insurance, a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
