Graduates of Hope work in a variety of sectors including the wholesale distribution industry, the religious private k-12 education industry, and the shipping, transportation, warehousing, or logistics industry. The health insurance industry is the sector most highly represented among alumni. Given the high SAT scores reported by Hope grads, their lower-than-average salaries are somewhat surprising. Median pay for those who graduated from Hope amounts to $49K.

The most generous salaries among Hope alumni are reportedly earned by Human Resources Managers, whose median earnings come to approximately $62K, followed by Software Developers ($51K) and Account Managers ($39K). Salaries are anything but generous for Marketing Coordinators, whose earnings rank lowest on the pay scale at about $36K.

Grand Rapids, Mich. is a hot spot for Hope alum. In addition, former Hope students often head to Chicago, Ill. after graduating, where the median salary comes to $60K in this top-paying city. Woodridge, Ill. is a popular spot for former Hope students at the opposite end of the pay scale; in fact, average salaries there are the lowest at around $38K. Nearby Holland, Mich. is also a top pick for Hope grads, as is Kalamazoo, Mich.

Degree Major

A B.A. in Business Administration will compensate Hope grads at a much higher rate than other degrees — these alums rake in approximately $104K on average per year. Graduates holding a B.A. in English Language fare the worst in terms of compensation with an average yearly salary of $35K.

Competency in Project Management translates into above-average pay for Hope College grads — they earn 66 percent more than their fellow graduates. Many former Hope students are familiar with Marketing Communications, and nearly one-eighth of grads move on to positions where this experience is utilized. In addition, those who are savvy in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Social Media Marketing are also considered highly skilled.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about two-fifths of alumni) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one-fourth of alumni get sick time. A strong majority of survey participants take advantage of a 401(k) plan. It is no small feat that a fair number of graduates are given health coverage, and more than half of alums accept dental insurance. Additional perks enjoyed by Hope College grads include life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and flexible hours.

Related Schools

Compensation averages around $51K for Lake Forest College alumni, making their earnings most comparable to Hope grads. Other schools similar to Hope include Kalamazoo College, Albion College, and Alma College.
