HBU alumni can most commonly be found in the oil drilling, pump, and oilfield supplies manufacturing industry, the health care services industry, and software as a service (SAAS) development, though they are employed throughout a wide range of sectors. The majority of HBU alumni wind up in the oil and gas field services industry. Religious service is perhaps the least commonly worked industry among HBU grads, with less than five percent of former students experienced in this area. Those with an education from HBU earn an average of $58K.

After graduation, disparities in salary rise to the surface — males earn an average $70K per year compared to females' $55K.

Among HBU graduates, the biggest earners are Purchasing Coordinators, who haul in $54K on average. Next on the list are Human Resources Managers, bringing in close to around $51K. Relative to other positions, compensation dwindles for Assistant Editors; alumni in this role face average salaries of approximately $32K.

Rather than relocating after graduation, many HBU alumni (the greater part of) end up finding permanent jobs in Houston. It is also not uncommon to find former HBU students living and working in Houston, Texas — this top-paying city is a popular destination with a median salary of about $61K. HBU alumni in Fort Worth, Texas can often be found sliding in at the lower end of the pay scale, where median paychecks are the smallest at around $41K.

Degree Major

With a median annual earnings of $88K per year, former Huskies who have a Master of Business Administration (MBA) are the best paid among the alumni population. Those holding a B.A. in Accounting are less fortunate in terms of earnings, bringing in $43K on average per year.

HBU alumni are often well versed in Microsoft Excel, with nearly one in six grads ending up in jobs that require this skillset. Knowledge of Recruiting seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are 32 percent more than their former classmates' salaries ($77K). Experience with Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is highly valued as well.

Benefits and Perks

The larger part of survey participants are allowed to take paid time off for vacation, but only about two-fifths of alumni get paid sick leave. Most survey participants participate in a 401(k) program. Health insurance benefits extend to most respondents, and a strong majority of survey participants sign up for dental plans. Houston Baptist University alumni are rewarded with additional benefits, such as a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.

Related Schools

Alumni of Jacksonville University pick up average paychecks of $59K, which is closest to the amount made by HBU grads among similar schools. Trinity University, Hardin-Simmons University, and Samford University are also similar to HBU.
