Graduates of HBU are found working in a number of different fields including the oil drilling, pump, and oilfield supplies manufacturing industry, the health care services industry, and software as a service (SAAS) development. A large chunk of former HBU students are employed in the oil and gas field services industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. On the other end of the spectrum is religious service, which attracts less than five percent of HBU alumni. Former HBU graduates bring in $59K on average.

After college, a notable gender gap appears: the average female graduate makes $55K where the average male graduate hauls home $71K.

Among HBU graduates, the biggest earners are Information Technology Project Managers, who haul in $80K on average. Next on the list are Purchasing Coordinators and Human Resources Managers, bringing in around $54K and about $51K, respectively. On the lower end, Assistant Editors report making approximately $32K.

Houston is a popular place for HBU students to settle after graduation, and the larger part of grads find steadfast employment in the city. It is no surprise that Houston, Texas, which hands out the biggest paychecks (the average salary is $60K), is another of the most popular spots for former HBU students. The city with the lowest median paycheck frequented by HBU alumni is Fort Worth, Texas, where earnings average around $41K. Other cities of interest among HBU alumni include nearby Dallas, Texas and Charlotte, N.C.

Degree Major

HBU students with a B.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication can expect to make the most money ($85K on average per year) compared to their fellow graduates. A B.A. in Accounting commands less pay, and these degree-holders face median pay of approximately $43K.

Former Huskies with Project Management abilities can expect to make 32 percent more than their former classmates ($78K). Microsoft Office is a popular skill among HBU alumni, with around one in six workers reporting using it on the job. Project Management, Microsoft Excel, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) are desirable skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

A majority of alums can rely on paid vacation days, but just one in three grads have the luxury of paid sick time. Most respondents save for retirement through a 401(k) plan. A large number of survey participants receive health insurance, and a large number of graduates get dental coverage. Houston Baptist University grads also enjoy benefits like a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and flexible hours.

Related Schools

Alumni of Jacksonville University pick up average paychecks of $59K, which is closest to the amount made by HBU grads among similar schools. Trinity University, Hardin-Simmons University, and Samford University are also similar to HBU.
