HBU alumni can most commonly be found in the oil drilling, pump, and oilfield supplies manufacturing industry, the health care services industry, and the health care industry, though they are employed throughout a wide range of sectors. A large chunk of former HBU students are employed in the oil and gas field services industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. The average salary for a grad from HBU is $63K.


Among HBU alumni, those working as Information Technology Project Managers report the highest median pay of $80K, followed by Executive Assistants to CEOs (approximately $61K), and Human Resources Generalists ($59K). Sitting at the bottom of the pay scale are Assistant Editors, making an average of $32K.


Houston is a city beloved by HBU alumni, and more than half of grads actually choose to stay and find employment here after completing their coursework. In addition, former HBU students often head to San Francisco after graduating, where typical salaries come to about $97K in this top-paying city. Though Fort Worth takes the cake for lowest pay among HBU grads (the median salary is around $41K there), it remains a common destination for former students. Nearby Austin is also a top pick for HBU grads, as is Dallas.

Degree Major

A graduate with a Master of Science (MS), Human Resources Management (HRM) from HBU can rake in a whopping $90K per year, more than any other degree from this school. Graduates holding a B.A. in Accounting fare the worst in terms of compensation with yearly salaries of approximately $43K.


Many former HBU students are familiar with Microsoft Excel, and close to a sixth of grads move on to positions where this experience is utilized. Project Management commands a pay premium of 23 percent for former Huskies. Also considered top-notch skills are Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Data Analysis.

Benefits and Perks

Paid time off due to illness is less common here than paid vacation time, approximately one in three alumni report receiving the former, whereas just a majority of graduates report receiving the latter. A strong majority of grads have medical plans, and a solid majority of graduates have dental insurance. To plan for old age, a strong majority of graduates maintain savings accounts through a company's 401(k) plan. Graduates of Houston Baptist University are also recipients of life insurance, a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
