HBU alumni find work in an assortment of industries including the oil drilling, pump, and oilfield supplies manufacturing industry, the health care services industry, and software as a service (SAAS) development. The most popular field is the oil and gas field services industry. Religious service is perhaps the least commonly worked industry among HBU grads, with less than five percent of former students experienced in this area. The average salary for a grad from HBU is $59K.


Male graduates on average earn more than female graduates; the first group banks approximately $70K per year, but the second group takes home only $56K.


Purchasing Coordinators win the contest for best-paid HBU alumni, making $54K on average every year, though Human Resources Managers ($51K) are not far behind. Collecting the smallest paychecks are Assistant Editors — they bring in about $32K.


HBU students enjoy their time in Houston, and the greater part of students actually choose to live and work there after graduating. HBU grads also flock to Houston, Texas, which is home to salaries significantly above average (median pay is around $60K). On the other end, HBU grads flock to Fort Worth, Texas, which actually offers the weakest median salary of $41K.

Degree Major

Financial compensation is highest for HBU grads with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) (average earnings climb to $88K per year). Average annual salaries for those with a B.A. in Accounting are the lowest of the pack, earning approximately $43K.


Former Huskies who have experience with Recruiting can expect to make 31 percent more than other alumni (around $77K on average). Roughly one in six grads report using Microsoft Office as part of their job, making it the most popular skill. Competency in Microsoft Excel, Project Management, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) also warrants excellent remuneration.

Benefits and Perks

Benefits include paid time off, but vacation days are more heavily handed out than sick days; a majority of alumni report receiving the former, but only two-fifths of alumni report receiving the latter. Health coverage is awarded to most alumni, and dental insurance is issued to most grads as well. A large number of alumni save for retirement through a 401(k) plan. Alumni of Houston Baptist University also take in a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
