Graduates of HBU are found working in a number of different fields including the oil drilling, pump, and oilfield supplies manufacturing industry, the health care industry, and the health care services industry. Among HBU grads, the oil and gas field services industry is a commonly chosen career field. HBU graduates see an estimated starting salary of $62K.


Male graduates do tend to earn more than female graduates; the first group banks $70K per year, but the second group takes home only around $58K.


In the HBU alumni professional community, Information Technology Project Managers make the highest median pay ($80K), though Executive Assistants to CEOs (about $61K), and Human Resources Generalists ($59K) are close competitors. Assistant Editors pick up approximately $32K in financial rewards, representing the lowest-paid position among alumni.


Graduates of HBU take pride in the city of Houston, and more than half of grads wind up living and working here after graduation. It is also not uncommon to find former HBU students living and working in San Francisco — this top-paying city is a popular destination with a median salary of $97K. South Houston is a popular spot for former HBU students at the opposite end of the pay scale; in fact, average salaries there are the lowest at about $31K. HBU alumni express interest in nearby Austin and Dallas as well.

Degree Major

Financial compensation is highest for HBU grads with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) (earnings climb to $83K per year). Ranking last in the compensation department are those holding a B.A. in Accounting — their annual income amounts to $43K on average.


Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is common among HBU alumni, and when it comes to using it on the job, approximately one-sixth of former students report doing so. Knowing Project Management can pay off big time for former Huskies, who can expect a 26 percent bigger paycheck than other grads. In addition, those who are savvy in Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Data Analysis are also considered highly skilled.

Benefits and Perks

A majority of alums report receiving paid vacation days, but just one in three grads are paid for sick leave. The greater part of former students opt for a 401(k) to save for retirement. Health benefits extend to a strong majority of respondents, and the greater part of survey participants also receive dental coverage. Houston Baptist University graduates also take advantage of life insurance, a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, and flexible hours.
