IWU alumni belong to a wide range of sectors. A few fields in which grads tend to find work include the financial services industry, the marketing, advertising, and media management industry, and clinical care. The most popular field is the health care industry. The average salary for a grad from IWU is $52K.

St. Louis, Mo. is a hot spot for IWU alum. It is no surprise that Chicago, Ill., which hands out the biggest paychecks (the average salary is about $74K), is another of the most popular spots for former IWU students. IWU grads love their alma mater so much that many stick around in Bloomington despite the median salary there ranking lowest among popular cities ($36K). Other common destinations include Minneapolis, Minn. and Decatur, Ill.

Degree Major

A Bachelor of Science in Accounting leads to the highest pay for IWU grads (approximately $115K on average per year). Those holding a B.A. in Psychology are less fortunate in terms of earnings, bringing in around $48K on average per year.

Proficiency in Customer Service is common among IWU alumni, and when it comes to using it on the job, roughly a seventh of former students report doing so. Knowledge of Strategic Marketing seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are double their former classmates' salaries ($104K). In addition, those who are savvy in Operations Management, Project Management, and Scheduling are also considered highly skilled.

Benefits and Perks

Though vacation and sick days are paid for some, these benefits are reported by the minority of graduates (two-fifths of alumni and one-fourth of alumni, respectively). In an effort to save up for the years ahead, a strong majority of respondents contribute to a 401(k). It is no small feat that a fair number of graduates are given health coverage, and a fair number of grads accept dental insurance. Additional perks enjoyed by Illinois Wesleyan University grads include life insurance, a casual working environment, flexible hours, and tuition reimbursement.

Related Schools

Among alumni of similar schools, Wabash College grads (who make an average of $52K) earn salaries most similar to IWU alumni. Other schools similar to IWU include Knox College, Monmouth College, and Augustana College.
