ISU alumni can most commonly be found in the construction industry, higher education, and public K-12 education, though they are employed throughout a wide range of sectors. The majority of ISU alumni wind up in the education industry. Those with an education from ISU earn an average of about $57K.

After college, a notable gender gap appears: the average female graduate makes $48K where the average male graduate hauls home $67K.

The most lucrative professionals among ISU alumni are Safety Directors; they earn a median annual salary of approximately $90K. Also approaching the top of the pay scale at $73K and $70K, respectively, are Environmental Health & Safety Managers and Psychologists. Collecting the smallest paychecks are Mental Health Counselors — they bring in around $37K.

Many ISU grads flock to Indianapolis, Ind. Another city that attracts a wealth of ISU grads is Chicago, Ill.; given its high compensation (about $86K is the average salary), the city's popularity should come as no surprise. Among popular cities, the lowest average pay is found in Terre Haute at $37K. Regardless of salary, a large portion of Indiana State University grads opt to live in the area following graduation. Other common destinations for ISU grads include close-by Jasper, Ind. and Bloomington, Ind.

Degree Major

A Bachelor of Science in Aviation will compensate ISU grads at a much higher rate than other degrees — these alums rake in approximately $105K on average per year. A Master of Science (MS), Communication commands less pay, and these degree-holders face median pay of $36K.

Former Sycamores with Project Management experience garner salaries that are 26 percent more than other grads' salaries. ISU grads are usually competent in Microsoft Excel, and nearly one in eight alumni continue practicing this skill in their career. Experience with Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Operations Management is highly valued as well.

Benefits and Perks

Slightly less than half of the respondents can rely on paid vacation days, but just one-third of alumni have the luxury of paid sick time. It is no small feat that most alums are given health coverage, and a strong majority of graduates accept dental insurance. Most graduates save up for retirement through a 401(k) plan. Indiana State University alumni are rewarded with additional benefits, such as life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.

Related Schools

Compensation averages $57K for Indiana University of Pennsylvania alumni, making their earnings most comparable to ISU grads. Other schools similar to ISU include Illinois State University, Tennessee State University, and Oakland University.
