ISU alumni can most commonly be found in the health care industry, the construction industry, and public K-12 education, though they are employed throughout a wide range of sectors. A large chunk of former ISU students are employed in the education industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. The average salary for a grad from ISU is approximately $57K.

Male graduates on average earn more than female graduates; the first group banks $67K per year, but the second group takes home only $47K.

The ISU alumni who make the most are Safety Directors; they report a median pay of around $90K. Environmental Health & Safety Managers and Psychologists draw in a fair amount as well — about $73K and $72K, respectively. Mental Health Counselors wrap up the bottom of the pay scale, earning $37K.

Many ISU grads end up living in Indianapolis, Ind., deeming it the most popular city for former students of this school. Another city that attracts a wealth of ISU grads is Chicago, Ill.; given its high compensation (around $86K is the average salary), the city's popularity should come as no surprise. Among popular cities, the lowest average pay is found in Terre Haute at approximately $38K. Regardless of salary, a large portion of Indiana State University grads opt to live in the area following graduation. Other cities of interest among ISU alumni include nearby Jasper, Ind. and Evansville, Ind.

Degree Major

Financial compensation is highest for ISU grads with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management (average earnings climb to $98K per year). The degree that warrants the lowest level of financial compensation is a Master of Science (MS), Communication ($36K on average annually).

Former Sycamores with Project Management experience garner salaries that are 27 percent more than other grads' salaries. ISU grads are usually competent in Microsoft Excel, and around one in ten alumni continue practicing this skill in their career. In addition, those who are savvy in Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Microsoft Word are also considered highly skilled.

Benefits and Perks

Though just under half of the graduates get paid time off for vacation, only one-third of alumni receive paid sick leave. Dental insurance applies to a strong majority of survey participants, and a large number of respondents report health coverage. Most survey participants plan for retirement by taking advantage of a company-sponsored 401(k) program. Indiana State University graduates also take advantage of life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.

Related Schools

Among alumni of similar schools, Indiana University of Pennsylvania grads (who make an average of $58K) earn salaries most similar to ISU alumni. Other schools similar to ISU include Illinois State University, Tennessee State University, and Oakland University.
