ISU alumni find work in an assortment of industries including higher education, the health care industry, and the manufacturing industry. A large chunk of former ISU students are employed in the education industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Typical pay for those who graduated from ISU amounts to $56K.


After graduation, women go on to earn an average of $46K per year compared to men, who earn approximately $66K.


Among ISU graduates, the biggest earners are Safety Directors, who haul in $77K on average. Next on the list are Environmental Health & Safety Managers and Psychologists, bringing in about $75K and $72K, respectively. Office Managers wrap up the bottom of the pay scale, earning around $34K.


Indianapolis is a hot spot for ISU alum. The top-paying city popular with ISU alumni is Cincinnati, which offers median salaries of $80K. Though median pay is subpar (about $39K) relative to popular cities, choosing to stay in Terre Haute after graduation is a common decision made by many alumni who have developed a love for the area. In addition, grads flock to Chicago as well as Evansville.

Degree Major

A Bachelor of Science in Business Management leads to the highest pay for ISU grads ($113K per year). A Master of Science (MS), Mental Health Counseling offers the lowest annual financial reward ($34K).


Microsoft Office is a popular skill among ISU alumni, with nearly one in eight grads reporting using it on the job. Former Sycamores with Project Management abilities can expect to make 32 percent more than their former classmates ($73K). Project Management, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word are among other dominant skills.

Benefits and Perks

Only half of the alumni for this school enjoy paid vacation days and about one in three grads get paid sick time. Health coverage is awarded to the greater part of survey participants, and dental insurance is issued to a fair portion of grads as well. A solid majority of former students plan for retirement by taking advantage of a company-sponsored 401(k) program. Indiana State University alumni are also on the receiving end of life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.
