Graduates of ISU head into a range of vocations when it comes to work; the health care industry, higher education, and the manufacturing industry are just a few professional areas popular among alumni. The majority of alumni accept jobs in the education industry. ISU graduates see an estimated starting salary of approximately $56K.

After graduation, women go on to earn an average of about $47K per year compared to men, who earn $66K.

The ISU alumni who make the most are Business Development Managers; they report a median pay of $105K. Environmental Health & Safety Managers and Safety Directors draw in a fair amount as well — around $92K and $77K. Office Managers face rather mediocre compensation — average salaries are actually the lowest at $34K.

Home to a large number of ISU alums, Indianapolis is by far the most attractive city for these former students. Cincinnati is also a common destination for ISU grads and offers the best pay with a median salary of about $85K. Indiana State University alumni often stay in Terre Haute following graduation despite having one of the lowest median salaries among popular cities (approximately $39K). Chicago and Evansville are popular choices as well.

Degree Major

With annual earnings of around $98K per year, former Sycamores who have a Bachelor of Science in Business Management are the best paid among the alumni population. A Bachelor of Science in Criminology offers the lowest annual financial reward ($40K).

Many former ISU students are familiar with Microsoft Office, and around one in eight grads move on to positions where this experience is utilized. Knowledge of Project Management seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are 29 percent more than their former classmates' salaries ($73K). Project Management, Microsoft Excel, and Operations Management are desirable skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Only about half of the alumni enjoy paid vacation and one in three grads receive sick leave. Benefits are rather generous for graduates of this school; a solid majority of alumni are rewarded with health insurance and most graduates report dental coverage, too. The greater part of former students set up a 401(k) to save for retirement. Other benefits that Indiana State University alumni receive are life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.

Related Schools

Compensation averages $58K for Indiana University of Pennsylvania alumni, making their earnings most comparable to ISU grads. Illinois State University, Tennessee State University, and Oakland University are also similar to ISU.
