Graduates of JSU go into the education industry, the health care services industry, and the health care industry, not to mention a variety of other lines of work. The majority of JSU alumni wind up in clinical care. Starting salaries of $51K are the median among JSU grads.

After graduation, disparities in salary rise to the surface — males earn an average approximately $58K per year compared to females' $43K.

Among JSU alumni, those working as Information Technology Auditors report the highest median pay of $70K, followed by Accounting Managers (around $61K). Relative to other positions, compensation dwindles for Accountants; alumni in this role face average salaries of $35K.

A large number of students head to Birmingham, Ala. after college. In addition, former JSU students often head to Tampa, Fla. after graduating, where the median salary comes to about $91K in this top-paying city. The city with the lowest median paycheck frequented by JSU alumni is Talladega, Ala., where earnings average around $34K. Atlanta, Ga. is also a common pick among JSU grads, along with Anniston, Ala.

Degree Major

A Master of Business Administration (MBA), Business Management will compensate JSU grads at a much higher rate than other degrees — these alums rake in $66K on average per year. Those holding a bachelor's degree in social work are less fortunate in terms of earnings, bringing in $33K on average per year.

Knowledge of Strategic Planning seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are nearly double their former classmates' salaries ($98K). Many former JSU students are familiar with Microsoft Excel, and close to a sixth of grads move on to positions where this experience is utilized. Other top skills include Accounts Receivable, Microsoft Office, and Payroll Administration.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about one in three grads) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one in three grads get sick time. It is no small feat that a strong majority of graduates are given health coverage, and more than half of grads accept dental insurance. A fair number of survey participants save for retirement through a 401(k) plan. Jacksonville State University grads are also lucky enough to receive a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, tuition reimbursement, and flexible hours.

Related Schools

Alumni of University of West Georgia pick up average paychecks of approximately $50K, which is closest to the amount made by JSU grads among similar schools. Kennesaw State University, North Georgia College & State University, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga are also similar to JSU.
