Graduates of Kent head into a range of vocations when it comes to work; the architectural services industry, the health care industry, and the retail industry are just a few professional areas popular among alumni. The most popular field is the manufacturing industry. Following graduation, Kent students earn an average of $52K.


Marketing Directors win the contest for best-paid Kent alumni, making around $84K on average every year, though Marketing Managers (approximately $71K), and Architecture Project Managers ($60K) are not far behind. Sitting at the bottom of the pay scale are Marketing Coordinators who make an average of $33K.


Cleveland, Ohio is filled with Kent grads. It is no surprise that New York, N.Y., which hands out the biggest paychecks (the average salary is about $59K), is another of the most popular spots for former Kent students. Home to the lowest median salary for Kent alumni is Pittsburgh, Pa., a popular place for former students despite its $49K average paycheck. Other common destinations for Kent grads include close-by Akron, Ohio and Columbus, Ohio.

Degree Major

Among the highest-paid Kent alumni are those with a Doctorate (PhD) — they earn close to $98K on average per year. Average annual salaries for those with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations (PR) are the lowest of the pack, earning $31K.


Former Golden Flashes with Project Management abilities can expect to make 13 percent more than their former classmates (approximately $58K). Microsoft Excel is a popular skill among Kent alumni, with about one in ten grads reporting using it on the job. Other top skills include Customer Service, Microsoft Office, and Project Management.

Benefits and Perks

Only two-fifths of alumni earn paid vacation and just one in four survey participants get paid sick time. A large number of alumni receive health insurance, and more than half of graduates get dental coverage. In an effort to save up for the years ahead, most alums contribute to a 401(k). Alumni of Kent State University at Kent also take in life insurance, a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
