The health care industry, the architectural services industry, and the education industry are just a few of the areas in which Kent grads find work. The most highly represented industry among alumni is the manufacturing industry. Kent graduates see an estimated starting salary of $51K.


Marketing Directors win the contest for best-paid Kent alumni, typically making $84K every year, though Marketing Managers (approximately $65K), and Design Architects ($48K) are not far behind. Marketing Coordinators face rather mediocre compensation — average salaries are actually the lowest at $33K.


The most popular destination for former Kent students is Cleveland. It is no surprise that New York, which hands out the biggest paychecks (the average salary is around $64K), is another of the most popular spots for former Kent students. Though Canton takes the cake for lowest pay among Kent grads (the median salary is about $50K there), it remains a common destination for former students. Kent alumni express interest in nearby Akron and Columbus as well.


Typical salaries reach around $57K at The Cleveland Clinic, where former Kent students can easily make the most money. Salaries are anything but high at The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., though, where average pay is $55K.

Degree Major

Among the highest-paid Kent alumni are those with a Doctorate (PhD) — they earn close to $90K per year. A B.A. in Bachelor of Arts (BA) commands less pay, and these degree-holders face salaries of approximately $35K.


Former Golden Flashes with Operations Management experience garner salaries that are 17 percent more than other grads' salaries. Microsoft Office is a common skill among Kent alumni — about one in ten grads mention using it at work. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project Management, and Customer Service command top-of-the-line rewards as well.

Benefits and Perks

Only two-fifths of alumni for this school enjoy paid vacation days and about one-fourth of alumni get paid sick time. The greater part of survey participants have medical plans, and a majority of former students have dental insurance. A solid majority of graduates take advantage of a 401(k) plan. Other benefits awarded to Kent State University at Kent alumni include life insurance, a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
