The banking industry, higher education, and the health care services industry are just a few of the areas in which MCLA grads find work. The most highly represented industry among alumni is the education industry. Unfortunately, former MCLA students — a population with excellent SAT results — report salaries on the lower end of the pay scale. Starting salaries of approximately $42K are common among MCLA grads.

Home to more women than men (the school's student population is more than 3 to 1 female-to-male), most graduates here are women.

Pittsfield is a hot spot for MCLA alum. MCLA grads also flock to Wakefield, which is home to salaries significantly above average (typical pay is $104K). Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts pride remains intact long after college is over, and many former students choose to live in North Adams despite the city offering some of the lowest median pay (around $34K). Other common destinations include Bennington and Worcester.

Degree Major

Among the highest-paid MCLA alumni are those with a Bachelor's Degree, Business Administration — they earn close to $68K per year. The degree that warrants the lowest level of financial compensation is a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Accounting ($46K annually).

Knowledge of Financial Reporting seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are 73 percent more than their former classmates' salaries (about $72K). Just under one in five grads report using Microsoft Excel as part of their job, making it the most popular skill. Other top skills include Customer Service, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Word.

Benefits and Perks

Just over half of the alumni report receiving paid vacation days, but just one in three grads are paid for sick leave. A fair portion of alums enjoy benefits like health insurance, while most grads receive dental plans, too. Most survey participants set aside retirement funds in an employer-sponsored 401(k). Graduates of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts are also recipients of life insurance, a casual working environment, tuition reimbursement, and 403(b).

Related Schools

Alumni of University of Pittsburgh pick up average paychecks of $40K, which is closest to the amount made by MCLA grads among similar schools. Granite State College, Charter Oak State College, and St Mary's College of Maryland are also similar to MCLA.
