Industry

Graduates of MO State work in a variety of sectors including the construction industry, the aerospace and defense industry, and the retail corporate office industry. The most highly represented industry among alumni is IT services. Curiously, the high SAT results reported by MO State alumni do not result in top-paid positions in the workforce — in fact, this group brings home rather low salaries. Those with a degree from MO State make an average of $49K.

Gender

Men might be more likely to graduate from this school than women, given the 3 to 1 male-to-female ratio of survey respondents. There is a sizable difference between men's post-college salaries and women's: the median for the former is approximately $62K, but the median for the latter is only about $48K.

Degree Major

With a median annual earnings of approximately $75K per year, former Bears who have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (CS) are the best paid among the alumni population. A Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS / BApS), Finance is less advantageous in terms of earnings; alums with this degree are the lowest earners with a median annual pay of $37K.

Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is common among MO State alumni, and when it comes to using it on the job, one in five former students report doing so. For former Bears, proficiency in SQL warrants a paycheck that is 40 percent more than other alumni salaries. Project Management, Microsoft Excel, and Data Analysis are desirable skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

As for time away from work, half of the alums are compensated for vacation days, but only one in three grads can take paid time off due to illness. A large number of graduates take advantage of a 401(k) plan. For this school, a large number of grads are the recipients of health benefits, and a majority of grads pick up dental plans, too.
