Despite handing out the worst average salary ($49K), Springfield, Mo. holds on to its MO State student population, and close to a fourth of grads continue to reside in the city. Degree Major

A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (CS) leads to the highest pay for MO State grads ($75K on average per year). A Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS / BApS), Finance commands less pay, and these degree-holders face median pay of around $37K.

Skills

MO State grads are usually competent in Microsoft Office, and one in five alumni continue practicing this skill in their career. Knowledge of SQL seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are 41 percent more than their former classmates' salaries ($69K). In addition, those who are savvy in Microsoft Excel, Project Management, and Data Analysis are also considered highly skilled.

Benefits and Perks

Approximately half of the alums are allowed to take paid time off for vacation, but only about one-third of alumni get paid sick leave. A large number of alumni set up a 401(k) to save for retirement. It is no small feat that most graduates are given health coverage, and a majority of respondents accept dental insurance. Additional perks enjoyed by Missouri State University grads include life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and free drinks.
