Professionally, the education industry, the banking industry, and the health care services industry are popular business areas among MSU alumni. The most popular field is the health care industry. Very few MSU grads go into the clothing store industry; in fact, less than five percent of alumni enter this industry. Unfortunately, former MSU students — a population with excellent SAT results — report salaries on the lower end of the pay scale. The average salary for a grad from MSU is $47K.

A gender wage gap becomes apparent after college, with female graduates earning only $36K on average compared to $64K for male graduates.

Among MSU alumni, those working as Information Technology Directors report the highest median pay of about $104K, followed by Network Engineers ($57K), and Revenue Cycle Analysts (around $31K). Case Managers pick up approximately $29K in financial rewards, representing the lowest-paid position among alumni.

Home to a large number of MSU alums, Lexington, Ky. is by far the most attractive city for these former students. The top-paying city popular with MSU alumni is Louisville, Ky., which offers a median salary of $70K. MSU alumni in Ashland, Ky. can often be found sliding in at the lower end of the pay scale, where median paychecks are the smallest at $31K. Cincinnati, Ohio is also a top pick, as is Morehead, Ky.

Degree Major

Among the highest-paid MSU alumni are those with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Accounting — they earn close to approximately $105K on average per year. A bachelor's degree in social work commands less pay, and these degree-holders face median pay of $31K.

Former Eagles with Project Management abilities can expect to make 69 percent more than their former classmates ($80K). Close to an eighth of grads report using Customer Service as part of their job, making it the most popular skill. In addition, those who are savvy in Microsoft Office, Budget Management, and Microsoft Excel are also considered highly skilled.

Benefits and Perks

Just one-third of alumni enjoy paid vacation and merely one-fourth of alumni get paid sick time. In an effort to save up for the years ahead, most graduates contribute to a 401(k). Health coverage is awarded to most survey participants, and dental insurance is issued to more than half of grads as well. Additional perks enjoyed by Morehead State University grads include a company-subsidized cell phone, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, and flexible hours.

Related Schools

Indiana University graduates, who earn about $48K on average, make a similar amount to MSU grads. Other schools similar to MSU include Marshall University, Eastern Kentucky University, and Northern Kentucky University.
