MSU alumni belong to a wide range of sectors. A few fields in which grads tend to find work include the veterinary care industry, the banking industry, and clinical care. The health care industry is the sector most highly represented among alumni. Despite the excellent SAT scores reported by MSU alumni, former students go on to earn relatively modest salaries. Many MSU grads flock to Lexington, Ky. In addition, former MSU students often head to Cincinnati, Ohio after graduating, where the median salary comes to $66K in this top-paying city. On the other hand, MSU alumni who end up in Ashland, Ky. receive the lowest median salary of $31K. MSU alumni express interest in nearby Morehead, Ky. and Louisville, Ky. as well.

Degree Major

A Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Accounting leads to the highest pay for MSU grads ($90K on average per year). A bachelor's degree in social work is less advantageous in terms of earnings; alums with this degree are the lowest earners with a median annual pay of $31K.


Former Eagles with Microsoft Excel experience garner salaries that are 56 percent more than other grads' salaries. About an eighth of grads report using Customer Service as part of their job, making it the most popular skill. Other prime know-hows include Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Counseling.

Benefits and Perks

When it comes to benefits, there is room for improvement — only one in three grads are paid for vacation and just one in four survey participants for sick time. A strong majority of alums set up a 401(k) to save for retirement. It is no small feat that a fair number of grads are given health coverage, and more than half of alumni accept dental insurance. Other benefits that Morehead State University alumni receive are a company-subsidized cell phone, life insurance, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.
