Industry

MSU alumni belong to a wide range of sectors. A few fields in which grads tend to find work include clinical care, the education industry, and the veterinary care industry. The majority of MSU alumni wind up in the health care industry. Given the high SAT scores reported by MSU grads, their lower-than-average salaries are somewhat surprising. Former MSU graduates tend to bring in about $45K.

Gender

There is a sizable difference between men's post-college salaries and women's: the median for the former is $57K, but the median for the latter is only $37K.

Jobs

MSU grads who become Information Technology Directors garner financial rewards beyond any other job type for this group — these alumni rake in $104K annually. However, Reliability Engineers and Financial Controllers also rank as top-earners (bringing in around $73K and $60K, respectively). Case Managers get the short end of the stick when it comes to salary, where grads report making an average of approximately $29K in this job.

Locations

Many MSU grads flock to Lexington. In addition, former MSU students often head to Columbus after graduating, where typical salaries come to around $78K in this top-paying city. Home to the lowest median salary for MSU alumni is Ashland, a popular place for former students despite its $30K average paycheck. Other common destinations include Cincinnati and Louisville.

Degree Major

A Bachelor's Degree, Business Administration earns MSU students the most money after college (approximately $80K per year). A bachelor's degree in social work commands less pay, and these degree-holders face salaries of about $29K.

Skills

Former Eagles with Budget Management experience garner salaries that are 40 percent more than other grads' salaries. Nearly one in eight MSU grads wind up using Customer Service at their job, which is one of the most common skills among alumni. In addition, those who are savvy in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Project Management are also considered highly skilled.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about two-fifths of alumni) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one in three grads get sick time. The greater part of former students receive health insurance, and a majority of grads get dental coverage. A solid majority of respondents opt for a 401(k) to save for retirement. Graduates of Morehead State University are also recipients of life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.

Related Schools

Median pay for Indiana University grads is $48K, making their salaries most similar to those of MSU grads. Marshall University, Eastern Kentucky University, and Northern Kentucky University are also similar to MSU.
