The majority of NC State alumni wind up in the software development industry. Those with an education from NC State earn an average of approximately $65K.

Degree Major

A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) earns NC State students the most money after college (an average around $114K per year). On the other end of the spectrum, those with a B.A. in Psychology tend to do the worst in terms of salary, making an average $44K per year.


Former Wolfpacks with C experience garner salaries that are 37 percent more than other grads' salaries. Project Management is a popular skill among NC State alumni, with a little less than a fifth of grads reporting using it on the job. Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Engineering Design rank among leading skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Paid time off due to illness is less common here than paid vacation time, nearly one-fourth of alumni report receiving the former, whereas just two-fifths of alumni report receiving the latter. A large number of survey participants have medical plans, and a strong majority of graduates have dental insurance. Most former students set aside retirement funds in an employer-sponsored 401(k). North Carolina State University at Raleigh alumni are rewarded with additional benefits, such as a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
