Graduates of OSU go into the manufacturing industry, the health care industry, and the oil and gas field services industry, not to mention a variety of other lines of work. A large chunk of former OSU students are employed in the oil and gas exploration industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Starting salaries of approximately $63K are common among OSU grads.

After graduation, women go on to earn an average of $53K per year compared to men, who earn $69K.

Jobs

Among OSU alumni, those working as Software Engineers report the highest median pay of around $93K, followed by Construction Project Managers and Project Engineers (both about $71K). Salaries are anything but generous for Staff Accountants, where earnings rank lowest on the pay scale at $44K.

Locations

A large number of students head to Tulsa after college. OSU alumni seeking the highest salaries end up in Austin, which offers median salaries of $85K. Though median pay is subpar (about $45K) relative to popular cities, choosing to stay in Stillwater after graduation is a common decision made by many alumni who have developed a love for the area. OSU alumni express interest in nearby Oklahoma City and Dallas as well.

Halliburton Energy Services is the top-paying employer among OSU graduates with an average salary of $82K. The lowest-paying salaries are found among university employees, where earnings are around $43K. Oklahoma State University is one of the most popular places of employment for students even though salaries sit at the lower end of the pay scale (typical pay is approximately $43K).

Degree Major

Former Cowboys who fare the best in terms of salary hold a medical degree and earn $89K per year. Those holding a Bachelor of Science in Business & Marketing are less fortunate in terms of earnings, bringing in $38K per year.

Skills

Project Management commands a pay premium of 22 percent for former Cowboys. Many former OSU students are familiar with Microsoft Excel, and approximately one-seventh of grads move on to positions where this experience is utilized. Competency in Project Management, Microsoft Office, and Engineering Design also warrants excellent retribution.

Benefits and Perks

Only half of the alumni earn paid vacation and just one in three grads get paid sick time. The greater part of graduates participate in a 401(k) program. A solid majority of graduates enjoy benefits like health insurance, while most respondents receive dental plans, too.
