Graduates of OSU head into a range of vocations when it comes to work; the manufacturing industry, the banking industry, and the health care industry are just a few professional areas popular among alumni. The most popular field is the oil and gas exploration industry. Those with a degree from OSU make an average of $63K.


Male graduates on average earn more than female graduates; the first group banks $69K per year, but the second group takes home only around $54K.


Among OSU alumni, those working as Software Engineers report the highest median pay of $88K, followed by Construction Project Managers ($75K), and Design Engineers (about $70K). On the lower end, Financial Analysts report making approximately $54K.


A large number of students head to Tulsa, Okla. after college. The top-paying city popular with OSU alumni is Houston, Texas, which offers a median salary of $89K. Many former Cowboys can't resist staying in Stillwater after graduating despite the median salary there ranking lowest among popular cities (about $46K). Nearby Oklahoma City, Okla. is also a top pick for OSU grads, as is Dallas, Texas.

Degree Major

OSU grads who hold a Master of Science (MS), Telecommunications Management can expect to fare better than most fellow alumni, earning an average $114K per year. On the other end of the spectrum, those with a Bachelor of Science in Business & Marketing tend to do the worst in terms of salary, making an average $37K per year.


OSU grads are usually competent in Project Management, and around one in seven alumni continue practicing this skill in their career. Former Cowboys with Project Management abilities can expect to make 23 percent more than their former classmates (approximately $78K). Other prime know-hows include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Engineering Design.

Benefits and Perks

Though just over two-fifths of alumni get paid time off for vacation, only one-third of alumni receive paid sick leave. Most alumni set up a 401(k) to save for retirement. Most former students receive health insurance, and a fair number of alums get dental coverage. Oklahoma State University alumni are rewarded with additional benefits, such as life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.
