OSU alumni belong to a wide range of sectors. A few fields in which grads tend to find work include the manufacturing industry, the banking industry, and the health care industry. The most popular career sector among alumni is the oil and gas exploration industry. The average salary for a grad from OSU is $63K.


There's a noticeable difference between the genders; where the average man hauls in $69K after graduating from OSU, the average woman earns only around $54K.


Among OSU alumni, those working as Software Engineers report the highest median pay of approximately $81K, followed by Civil Engineers ($72K), and Design Engineers ($70K). Sitting at the bottom of the pay scale are Electrical Engineers who make an average of about $61K.


Tulsa, Okla. is filled with OSU grads. It is no surprise that Houston, Texas, which hands out the biggest paychecks (the average salary is approximately $91K), is another of the most popular spots for former OSU students. Among popular cities, the lowest average pay is found in Stillwater at $46K. Regardless of salary, a large portion of Oklahoma State University grads opt to live in the area following graduation. Close-by Oklahoma City, Okla. and Dallas, Texas are also desirable cities among OSU alumni.

Degree Major

With a median annual earnings of $100K per year, former Cowboys who have a Master of Science (MS), Telecommunications Management are the best paid among the alumni population. A Bachelor of Science in Business & Marketing commands less pay, and these degree-holders face median pay of $36K.


Proficiency in Project Management is common among OSU alumni, and when it comes to using it on the job, nearly one in seven former students report doing so. Former Cowboys with Project Management experience garner salaries that are 26 percent more than other grads' salaries. Competency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Engineering Design also warrants excellent remuneration.

Benefits and Perks

As for time away from work, just over two-fifths of alumni are compensated for vacation days, but only one-third of alumni can take paid time off due to illness. Most graduates participate in a 401(k) retirement savings plan. Health benefits extend to a large number of former students, and a strong majority of respondents also receive dental coverage. Oklahoma State University graduates also take advantage of life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.
